This elective course provides an introduction to the field of transportation planning. We will learn about the history of the transportation planning field, travel modes and patterns that comprise our transportation system, and how a transportation plan is created. We will also discuss the players within the transportation planning field (federal, state, MPO, county, and local governments), travel surveys, environmental justice issues, freight transport, community outreach and data methods, and new technologies (rideshare programs, autonomous vehicles, etc…) There will be hands-on lessons and transportation related trivia!
